Here in the UK we face an invasion of genetically modified crops being grown by fatcat foreign companies which our spineless government simply will not oppose.
Over the past 40 years our embattled farming industry has found a new lease of life by going organic. As you know, this is a hard accreditation to achieve, requiring massive investment, a commitment to green ways and test after test to ensure organic standards are met.
This week, DEFRA (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) is closing the book on submissions against GM farming. They have kept it very quiet and there has been next to no public debate - a series of handpicked 'local forums' is about all the public consultation the man on the street has been privy to!!
The Soil Association, which represents the organic lobby and accredits them, is seeking submissions to DEFRA stating opposition to the proposal to grow GM crops in Britain, by 20th October.

email DEFRA on GMcoexistence@defra.gsi.gov.uk or write to Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, GM Policy Team, Zone 4/E5, Ashdown House, 123 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DE.
IF GM CROPS ARE LICENSED FOR THIS COUNTRY IT WILL MEAN AN END TO ORGANIC FARMING AS IT EXISTS TODAY - FIGHT THIS PROPOSAL!
